Learning and Teaching

In the Applied Digital Learning program I have learned so many different things and applied my learning in new ways.  The growth mindset, failing forward strategies, and COVA learning approach have significantly impacted my own thinking and teaching.  I am now working towards a learner's mindset where I know that I don't have to be perfect and have it all together.  I can fail and try again and again and again.  Because I know where my heart is and why I do what I do, I strive to be a better teacher.  In my eyes, being a better teacher is  always looking for opportunities to improve myself and my teaching.  When my students see that I am willing to learn and grow they will too.  I want to nurture a learner's mindset in my students and to do so I will use the COVA approach to implement my innovation plan of bring blended learning to my kindergarten classroom.  Through the COVA approach I will give my students Choice, Ownership and Voice through Authentic Learning Experiences.

Growth

Carol Dweck defines a mindset as how a student "perceives their abilities".  These mindsets play a key role in how students perform and in their overall motivation.  Visit my Growth Mindset Plan to see how I plan to promote a growth mindset with my kindergarten learners.

Love

I truly believe that when the love of learning is ignited, a fire for discovery and exploration burns in the heart of every life-longer learner for years to come.  Read my about my learning manifesto and how I want to ignite the first of discovery in my classroom.

Social network concept

In the field of education, learning networks are essential to help educators stay connected, collaborate and share ideas.  Learning networks can be great tools that increase knowledge for the teacher that impacts their students.  Read about the networks I am a part of.
