Module 3:
Usabilty & Reflection

In the process of refining my course, the recent usability testing has offered profound insights into the alignment of outcomes, activities, and assessments. Reflecting on this process, several key takeaways emerge, shaping not only the course design but also the learner experience and support infrastructure.

Firstly, the decision to involve a diverse range of stakeholders in the testing proved instrumental. By engaging the entire kindergarten team, a first-grade teacher, and campus coaches, I acquired multifaceted perspectives crucial for comprehensive evaluation. Their expertise in curriculum standards and instructional strategies enhanced the feedback process, ensuring that the curriculum addressed the needs of both current and transitioning students. The feedback received from participants highlighted areas for improvement and pointing out areas of strengths. Incorporating suggestions such as adding navigation buttons and immersive reader features not only enhanced usability but will also personalize the learning experience for my students.

Moreover, leveraging a familiar digital platform like Canvas streamlined the testing process, allowing participants to focus on content rather than struggling with technology. The seamless integration of tools familiar to educators minimized barriers and maximized engagement, highlighting the importance of user-friendly interfaces in educational settings.

Ultimately, the usability testing and the collaboration of stakeholders have helped in refining this course based on feedback and aligning with learner needs.  Through the development of this course and others like it, I aim to cultivate an environment where every student can thrive and be empowered to reach their full potential of becoming lifelong learners.
